Dunheved Win the Guardian Funerals Club Cup!

16 Nov 2016

At just their second attempt, Dunheved Veterans have won their inaugrual WSRVGA Club of the Year trophy.

In the end the margin was 10 points to Richmond and 15 points to Wallacia, but the key to victory for the new team was a top 3 finish at every one of the eight events held in 2016. On the day, danger team Richmond could not find those scores in the 40’s on their home track while Wallacia needed a miracle to score well enough on the bigger and longer course layout.

Dunheved Club spokesman Greg Burke said that “this was a real team effort and we have been rewarded for our consistency over the full season. We didn’t win a single event, Richmond beat us on our home track, but we just kept finishing top 3 away from home!”

Western Sydney Vets had another bumper season with all courses in excellent condition, rivalry between the Clubs on the rise not least because of the closeness of the competition, and new sponsors Guardian Funerals and One Point Health contributing to increased prizemoney on offer.

Congratulations to Dunheved Veterans and to the 2016 Players of the Year, Peter Green (Dunheved) and Judy Benson (Richmond), and runners-up, Rod King (Richmond) and Sandra Timms (Dunheved).
